The Domain Phase II

UPDATE: May 27, 2008

The developer for the Domain Phase II (Simon Properties) has agreed to remove all angled and head-in parking along proposed sharrow routes. With that move, the city felt that sharrows would be acceptable and staff approved their compromise plan.

The sharrows will include an extension of Kramer Lane from Burnet to Domain Drive, then into the development, by a new theater and halting at MoPac, where a future trail could connect with any regional rail station there. Additional sharrows will be used on "Newman Drive," a development drive that connects that connects Kramer to Braker.

LOBV as an interested party in the case agreed to the plan and it was approved on consent by the Planning Commission. Austin will now have its first sharrows.

Additionally, the developer agreed to the full requirement of bicycle parking (5% of car spaces) which LOBV pushed for. This is in addition to resident bicycle parking.

Kudos to LOBV members, city staff at the bike ped program, Hill Abel and the agent for the developer, Drenner and Golden, which worked to find an acceptable solution.
