UPDATED 7/11/11: Added Tillery St (Gonzales St to Castro St)
Dozens of new bike lanes are being painted all across Austin this summer. Some projects are prominent, e.g. South Congress and Airport Blvd., but many more are on less-traveled streets. While some bike lane projects are just a matter of laying down new stripes, some projects require modification to on-street car parking in order to establish “car-free” bike lanes.
Bike Lanes and On-Street Car Parking Modifications: When a new or repainted bike lane conflicts with existing on-street car parking, there is a public input process to help address any inconveniences due to loss of on-street car parking. In the last week, the League of Bicycling Voters has received fifteen public notices regarding parking modifications resulting from pending bike lane projects.
