LOBV Board endorsements for Austin City Council

The Board of Directors of the League of Bicycling Voters, with input from its membership, candidates’ answers to our questionnaire, and the results of its recent candidates’ forum, has endorsed the following candidates for the upcoming city council elections:

Place 1: The LOBV enthusiastically supports Chris Riley. In Place 1, Chris is the candidate who has best demonstrated that he truly understands bicycling advocacy and its challenges.

Place 3: The LOBV supports Randi Shade. While we recognize that Shade’s overall environmental performance can be improved, we recognize her solid support on all bicycle-related issues during her term. We respect the credentials of her rival Kathie Tovo and look forward to her eventual service on the council. But in this race we will stand behind Randi Shade’s experience on the council and her record of support for Austin cyclists.

Place 4: The LOBV strongly supports Laura Morrison, who has reliably supported bicycling in Austin during her first term on council. We look forward to another term of working with her.
